Antony and the Johnsons

Befitting the delicate music on which it is based, Carl Robertshaw interprets and responds to such contrasting themes of internal and external space, light and dark, physical and the metaphysical. Breathing walls, structural and translucent set pieces represent the understated elegance and unaffected beauty of Antony’s music. A curtain raises and the focal point of the set reveals itself, an illuminated crystal seemingly floats in the air. Antony explains, ‘These beautiful crystals can be found in the centre of dark mountains, yet somehow they hold an inner luminosity.’
